Effective Date: 19 February 2025
Introduction
This Refund Policy outlines the terms under which refunds may be issued for digital products and services ("Services") purchased through Lightmode. We aim to be fair and transparent in all refund matters.
Merchant of Record
All purchases of our paid Services are processed by our designated third-party payment processor, which acts as the Merchant of Record. This means the payment processor is the entity that sells our digital products to you, processes your payment, and manages refund transactions.
Requesting a Refund
You may request a refund through the following methods:
- Via the payment processor: Use the receipt or invoice email you received after your purchase. Each receipt contains a link to request a refund directly through the payment processor's system.
- Via Lightmode: If you need assistance or prefer to contact us directly, email us at [email protected] and we will help facilitate the process with the payment processor on your behalf.
Monthly Subscriptions
Refunds are not issued for monthly subscriptions. Monthly billing is designed to be low-commitment — you may cancel your subscription at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to the Service until that date.
Annual Subscriptions
If you have purchased an annual subscription:
- Refund requests made within 14 days of the original purchase or renewal date are eligible for a full refund.
- After 14 days, no refunds are issued for annual subscriptions.
- Refunds may also be granted where the Service is materially defective, not as described, or where you have been unable to access the Service due to a fault on our end.
Cancellations
You may cancel any subscription at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will continue to have access to the Service until that date. No partial refunds are issued for the remaining unused portion of a billing period, unless required by applicable law.
Consumer Protection Act
This Refund Policy does not limit or exclude any rights you may have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA"). Where the CPA applies, your statutory rights take precedence over this policy. This includes, but is not limited to, your right to return defective goods or cancel direct marketing transactions within the cooling-off period prescribed by the CPA.
How Refunds Are Processed
Approved refunds are processed by the payment processor and returned to your original payment method. Please allow 5 to 10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your financial institution.
Lightmode does not directly handle payment information or issue refunds. All refund transactions are managed through the payment processor's systems.
